I tried Second Skin after many great reviews. I tried a test patch on the area i was getting tattooed on the opposite arm for 24 hours prior to the tattoo with no reaction, but once i took the first sheets off, and reapplied to the tattooed area i had a reaction after 8 hours. i removed the second skin but some adhesive was left behind and ive been battling to try to remove that, and the itch of the new tattoo healing so unfortunately my experience has been itchy at best
Hey Dustin, I'm sorry you didn't have a great experience with our bandage. Because you didn't have any problems with the test piece it may have been an issue with residual soap left over after the tattoo that was trapped underneath the bandage. This can cause irritaion or even chemical burns, as well as degrade the adhesive. To remove any leftover adhesive you can use a vegetable based oil, such as coconut oil, and that will usually do the trick.
For me, the worst part of getting a tattoo is the first 3-5 days of healing --- washing it while it still hurts, keeping my clothes from touching it, worrying about dirt, etc.
This stuff was the perfect size, went on easily, and got rid of all my least favorite parts of healing. And the tattoo came out great!!
It was my first time using this I loved it. Like that it kept me protected at work and I didn’t really have to worry about it for a few days. And my tattoo still look really fresh after the removal.
I can’t use regular bandages because the glue isn’t regulated as much, and I get blisters. But I’ve never gotten a reaction from the adhesive in second skin! I’m considering just using it as bandaids at this point
Was really bummed that this second skin had no give, flex, or movement… it felt like putting a piece of regular tape on top of my tattoo.
