Polyurethane, Acrylic Polymer Adhesive, Disposable Paper or Film Quick Release Liner
How to Apply
- Clean and dry the tattoo thoroughly.
- Cut the SecondSkin™ to the desired length and shape, using multiple pieces overlapped at least one inch if needed. You should account for an extra inch on each side of the tattoo to cover un-tattooed, dry skin.
- “Crack” the wave by bending the piece in half at the blue stripe.
- Expose the sticky side by peeling off the backing printed with “SecondSkin”.
- Smooth SecondSkin™ over the tattoo pushing out any air bubbles.
- Remove supportive clear backing by peeling from the blue “wave” and smoothing over skin.
How to Remove
- Peel up an edge or corner of SecondSkin™. If this proves difficult, you can attach medical tape to the corner of the film to help lift it.
- Slowly pull the film off. Do not pull it straight up away from the skin. Instead, pull the film back and across the skin while holding your skin taut.

I loved the original, but the premium is so thin you don’t even notice it’s there. Way more flexible and comfortable for big pieces. It is also more matte like in the description not as shiny. If you haven’t checked out the other after care you should because I’m also hooked on those as well. My skin is super sensitive and none of second skin products give me irritation.
I’ve tried multiple protective layerings from different brands, but I’ve stuck with Second Skin bc the size of the roll and the amount you get for the price. It’s a good quality product and I use it for almost every tattoo I do for my clients. Just make sure to patch test small pieces on your clients skin, bc regardless of what brand of protective layering you use, some people will experience allergic reactions to the adhesive. I haven’t had anyone say anything when I use Second Skin, but it has happened with other brands, so there’s always a possibility.

I was very surprised at how quickly my order came in!
Great product! I put this on all my clients’ tattoos after our sessions and my clients like it a lot bc their tattoos are more protected during the healing process. I just wish that the bandage had more areas with the perforation to make the removal of the top layer easier. Sometimes I use pieces that don’t have perforated top layer and it can be a hassle to remove in those cases bc I end up having to pick at the edges and hope for the best. Other than that, I have no complaints!
